Welcome to the final lesson!

In today’s final lesson you will learn that everything that we have covered thus far is just a portion of your Career Acceleration toolkit. In fact, the relationships that you maintain and cultivate are almost equally as important.

! NOTE TAKING IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

I highly recommend that you take notes while watching these videos and then revisit those notes in the future. Research has shown that note-taking + follow-up review can increase your retention by 50% or more.

Lesson 10:
Building Your Extended Network

Time to complete: 1 week (and far beyond)

Assignment Step 1

If you don’t have a career mentor, go out and get your first

  • Reach out to someone whom you trust who can give you the customized professional advice that you need, and ask them to act as a professional mentor for you moving forward.

  • If you don’t have someone in your life where you are comfortable making that ask, then identify a potential future mentor and start to build a relationship with them so that you can ask them in the near future.

  • If you already have a mentor, go out and get another one to help you in the areas where your first mentor might not be as strong.

Assignment Step 2

Go start putting goodness out into the world

  • In this next week, start to stress the muscle of “non-reciprocated goodness”. Start putting those ‘good vibrations’ out into the world.

  • Don’t expect anything in return. Don’t ask for anything in return.

  • Relish the emotional enjoyment of being a good person.

Assignment Step 3

Start to build a deeper, non-work relationship with at least one other person in your company

  • Think about your future work and the key stakeholders and people that your projects might touch in the future.

  • Pick one of those future stakeholders and start to build a non-work relationship. Get to know them. Take them to lunch or coffee. Just get to know them as a person and not as a stakeholder.

  • Don’t push any of your ideas on them (unless the conversation naturally takes that turn). Don’t try to influence them. Simply build a real personal connection.

Assignment Step 4

Make sure at least two out of the three elements of the Career Acceleration Triad are working for you

  • Continue to work on all the lessons that you have been exposed to over these last 10 weeks. Many of these areas will take years to fully master, but you are on a great path.

  • Objectively assess your current manager and whether you believe they are ‘rocket-ship’ caliber.

  • Continually assess the products and businesses that you are working on and shift your energies into those with the strongest underlying growth and positive energy.

Congratulations!

You have successfully completed all ten lessons in this course. Thank you for your time and focus, and please: share the course, donate if you can, and revisit the materials again in the future.
