Welcome to the fifth lesson
Today we have the second lesson that delves into the idea of creating ‘net positive’ energy in a company. We will somewhat extend the last lesson with a further deep-dive into how you can leverage your newly developed Inquiry skills to drive real change (and why this skill is so damn important).
! NOTE TAKING IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !
I highly recommend that you take notes while watching these videos and then revisit those notes in the future. Research has shown that note-taking + follow-up review can increase your retention by 50% or more.
Lesson 5:
Driving Change
Time to complete: 1 week
Assignment Step 1
Leverage these news skills and techniques if you are going through a current active change effort
Think about everything you’re doing at work and whether you are actually in the middle of an active Change project of some kind
If so, then start applying the Change Equation and your new-found skills immediately to that project
Assignment Step 2
Grade one of your past change-efforts vs. the Change Equation
Think back in time to when you tried to drive some change in your company (either successfully or unsuccessfully)
Compare how you approached that change initiative against the formula, and identify any gaps or things you would do differently
Assignment Step 3
Define the Change Equation elements for something you’d like to change in the future
Identify an area that you’d like to change or improve in your current organization or company
Go through the mental exercise of defining all of the steps to fill out the Change Equation. How would you create the organizational dissatisfaction? How would you build a vision for the future state? And what first steps would you take to get the ball rolling?
If you’re feeling bold, go actually kick off that change effort (there is nothing more valuable than building the real muscle)
